Data Sources & Provenance
- Primary: on-package labels, manufacturer sites, official retailers
- Secondary: brand documentation and regulatory disclosures
- User submissions: queued for editorial review before publication
- Provenance: each entry tracks source type, capture date, and reviewer
Coverage & Update Cadence
- Coverage: 189k+ products across 6k+ brands
- Refresh: continuous ingestion plus regular editorial sweeps
- We strive to review brand-reported changes quickly and prioritize user submissions within a few days.
Quality Assurance
- Automated checks: label completeness, unit/serving validation, ingredient normalization
- Manual review: form/elemental mapping, variant matching (size/count/flavor), reasonableness checks
- Acceptance: no critical conflicts, taxonomy match, unit consistency
- Change log: material updates flagged in the record&s history
Ingredient Parsing & Nutrient Math
- Forms: map labeled forms (e.g., magnesium glycinate) to elemental amounts where provided
- Units: normalize mg/µg/IU; round to label-appropriate precision
- Daily totals: computed per user servings and aggregated across products/stacks
- Proprietary blends: recorded as declared; amounts shown only if disclosed
Known Limitations
- Packaging changes and regional variants may lag before review
- Proprietary blends may not disclose all ingredient amounts
- Some forms or claims may be brand-specific and not standardized
- Region-specific formulas or claims may differ from US labels
